The C-130 is used both for weather reconnaissance and combat airlift. Mission: The 53rd Weather Reconnaissance Squadron, better known as the Hurricane Hunters, find and track ocean weather fronts as they turn into hurricanes and head toward the mainland. This mission is unique to the Air Force Reserve. The 815th Airlift Squadron is known for performance in combat.
