Enter the Air Force Reserve as a commissioned officer and apply your nursing skills in ways you never dreamed possible. As an Air Force Reserve nurse, your clinical knowledge will be expanded to include the special challenges of aerospace medicine. You may be an integral part of a mobile surgical team treating casualties as a member of a flight crew on some of the country's most-advanced aircraft. Air Force Reserve nurses receive competitive pay, paid education and retirement benefits.

Incentives

An array of rewards are offered to Air Force Reserve nurses while participating a minimum of one weekend a month and two weeks a year. You will receive the respect and privileges that come with being a commissioned officer. Opportunities exist to be at the forefront of international medical partnerships through participation in the International Health Service program. You will receive an extra paycheck and non-contributory retirement benefits. In addition, you may be eligible for student loan repayment or special pay incentives up to $45,000. You will have the opportunity to visit unique locations whether on-duty or off-duty via military aircraft. As an additional benefit, you will also have access to base facilities such as fitness centers, tax-free shopping, and commissary privileges.

The Air Force Reserve does not require you to move. If an Air Force Reserve medical unit is located near you, anticipate an assignment within a feasible commuting distance from your home.

Training and Education

Experience the opportunity to further your education with courses in flight nursing and Critical Care Air Transport. We also offer unique continuing education opportunities such as Combat Casualty Care and Nursing Management courses. Air Force Reserve nurses can also attend paid national CEU conferences to receive continuing education credit. There are many sophisticated missions for nurses in the Air Force Reserve.
