Our doctors keep us flying…

The Air Force Reserve offers physicians unparalleled opportunities to serve while continuing to grow professionally. Not only do our physicians engage in the traditional care of patients, they also handle emergencies unique to aviation and serve an important role in aerospace medicine. You may examine a pilot and determine whether or not they can take to the air. Many physicians in the Air Force Reserve have opportunities to expand medical knowledge with Critical Care Air Transport and flight medicine techniques. We rely on our doctors to provide advice regarding air rescue and aeromedical evacuation missions.

Incentives

You will be a respected member of our ranks accepting vast responsibilities when you enter the Air Force Reserve as a Commissioned Officer. Air Force Reserve Physicians provide the necessary care to our Airmen allowing us to accomplish the mission. Opportunities exist to be at the forefront of international medical partnerships through participation in the International Health Service program. While serving your fellow Airmen you may be eligible to receive loan repayment or special pay incentives up to $75,000, as well as the opportunity to earn valuable retirement benefits. As an officer, you will have base privileges and tax-free shopping at base exchanges around the world. You will have the opportunity to practice medicine on a global stage and take advantage of leisure travel on space-available military aircraft.

Training and Education

In addition, you will be offered options to enhance your medical education that you will not encounter in the civilian world, such as global medicine, tropical medicine, and casualty response. There are many opportunities for continuing education, and you can receive CME credits through compensated symposiums and conferences.
