When your son or daughter serves their country, they also serve their future.

These days, with so many options available, it’s tougher than ever for young adults to find their place in the world. So encourage your child to explore a world of opportunity in the Air Force Reserve. A place where career skills are enhanced, and life skills are engrained.

When your child becomes a member of the Air Force Reserve, we’ll help bring out their very best. They’ll develop confidence, discipline and maturity, and discover talents they never knew they had. When they push themselves to the limit, they’ll find there really are no limits.

The Air Force Reserve is a head start to a better career. It will open new doors, and provide the experience, direction, and leadership skills they need to take their life above and beyond.

In the Air Force Reserve, your son or daughter will:
- Gain confidence
- Develop self-discipline
- Develop skills necessary for success
- Fulfill their civic duty to serve
- Make life in the U.S. safer
- Help protect human rights and values

As a parent of a Reservist, you will:

- Be proud of your child’s service to his or her country

Our Vital Mission

The Mission of the Air Force Reserve is to provide citizen airmen to defend the United States and protect its interests through aerospace power. In support of that mission, the Air Force Reserve provides Intelligence, Surveillance, Combat Support, and Aeromedical Evacuation, to name an important few.

The Air Force Reserve also provides peacetime support at home and abroad with missions such as Weather Reconnaissance (Hurricane Hunters), Aerial Firefighting, Search and Rescue and others. Air Force Reservists are always ready at a moment's notice.

Part-time Work, Full-time Benefits
For a part-time commitment, your child will receive an impressive list of benefits:

  • Money for College

As the cost of college continues to skyrocket, the Air Force Reserve continues to offer tuition assistance through the Montgomery GI Bill-SR. In addition to helping overcome financial hurdles, we also offer your son or daughter the flexibility to balance a work/study schedule that will best help them achieve their goals.

  • Technical/Trade School Training

Learning builds confidence, and confidence builds character. In the Air Force Reserve, your child will always be encouraged to take full advantage of our training programs. This includes enrollment in the Community College of the Air Force – the only federally chartered institution with the authority to grant associate degrees and give credit for job- related technical training. Plus, the skills used in more than 80% of our jobs can also be applied to civilian positions.

  • Outstanding Retirement Benefits

While many companies no longer provide retirement benefits, the Air Force Reserve has a non-contributory program that could add hundreds of dollars to you child’s monthly retirement income – without ever having payroll deductions.

  • Other Key Benefits

Reservists are able to take advantage of free travel opportunities, low-cost life insurance, health benefits and family support centers. Plus, they’ll have unlimited access to base fitness centers, tennis courts and libraries, as well as tax-free and subsidized privileges at the commissary (base supermarket) and the base exchange (department store).

  • The Best of Civilian and Military Life

Being in the Air Force Reserve is the best of both worlds. Your child will get to pursue their interests on the civilian side, then share the camaraderie that comes with serving their country; developing special bonds that are seldom found anywhere else.

  • An Extra Paycheck Each Month

Your son or daughter can count on getting a regular paycheck from us as long as he or she is on Active Reserve status. So they’re actually getting paid to learn new skills. In addition, the Air Force Reserve provides cost-of-living increases, along with additional pay increases based on years of accumulated service.

  • Assignments Close to Home

Wherever you live in the U.S., chances are there’s an Air Force Reserve base just a short drive away. Your child will likely be assigned to a base that’s near your home. Click here to find a map of Air Force Reserve bases.
