Munitions Systems

Overview:  Working with devices that are designed to explode and cause damage clearly requires a high level of attention to detail and care. From assembling bombs to loading rockets in launchers, Munitions Systems personnel are experts in the safe and efficient handling, storing, transporting, arming and disarming of weapons systems. 

Position:  Enlisted

AFSC: 2W0X1

Specific Tasks:

  • Operate automated equipment to perform munitions accounting, computations and research 
  • Store, maintain, assemble, issue and deliver nonnuclear munitions 
  • Comply with explosive, missile, and ground safety, security and environmental directives

Requirements:

  • Normal color vision and depth perception 
  • Qualification to operate a government vehicle 
  • No record of emotional instability 
  • Never been convicted of domestic violence
  • ASVAB score of 57 on General or 60 on Mechanical
  • Demonstrated weight lift of 60 pounds
  • Eligibility for Secret security clearance

Training:

  • Candidates without prior military experience are required to attend 8 ½ weeks of Basic Military Training (BMT) at JB San Antonio-Lackland, TX ,followed by Technical Training 
  • Technical Training - 43 days at Sheppard AFB, TX 
  • College credit earned:  Munitions Systems Technology - 16 credits
