Nuclear and Missile Operations
Overview: Nations with nuclear and missile capabilities possess unique and tremendous responsibilities to maintain and control these weapons for the preservation of peace and the well-being of all. Nuclear and Missile Operations officers are tasked to effectively manage these operations and successfully protect and defend our nation and its allies.
Position: Officer
AFSC: 13NX
Specific Tasks:
- Formulate and coordinate nuclear and missile operations policies and procedures
- Plan, organize and direct nuclear and missile operations programs
- Operate and control nuclear and missile operations
- Control storage and issue of positive control, authentication materials and code components
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s Degree; preferably with STEM or Business/Management disciplines
- Commission as an officer in the Air Force Reserve
- Physical qualification for Missile Operator Duty (MOD) according to AFI 48-123
- Eligibility for Top Secret security clearance
Training:
- For those without a prior military service commission, successful completion of the eight-week Officer Training School at Maxwell AFB, AL is required
