Rescue Pilot

Overview: The HH-60G Pave Hawk helicopter serves as the primary aircraft for Air Force Reserve search and rescue missions during combat or emergency rescue operations. Two pilots, a flight engineer and an aerial gunner form the crew of this remarkable vehicle that can operate in any terrain.

Position:  Officer


Specific Tasks:

  • Supervise mission planning, preparation, filing of flight plan and crew briefing 
  • Pilot aircraft and command crew 
  • Ensure aircraft is preflighted, inspected, loaded, equipped and manned for mission 
  • Conduct training of crewmembers and ensure operational readiness


  • Bachelor's degree; an undergraduate degree specializing in physical sciences, mathematics, administration, or management is desirable 
  • Commission as an officer in the Air Force Reserve 
  • Current aeronautical rating and qualification for aviation service as pilot


  • For those without a prior military service commission, successful completion of the nine week Officer Training School at Maxwell AFB, AL is required 
  • Completion of Air Force Specialized Undergraduate Pilot Training (SUPT)
