Special Operations Forces/Personnel Recovery Electronic Systems
Overview: The Air Force Reserve encompasses many unique missions and types of aircraft, each with its individual requirements and training. Special Operations/Personnel Recovery (SOF/PR) systems specialists operate and maintain the highly sophisticated electronic systems utilized in special ops and rescue missions. There are three categories of SOF/PR systems personnel:
- Integrated Communication/Navigation/Mission systems
- Integrated Instrument and Flight Control systems
- Integrated Electronic Warfare systems
Position: Enlisted
AFSC: 2A2X1, 2A2X2, 2A2X3
Specific Tasks:
- Operates and maintains communication/navigation/mission systems, flight control systems or electronic warfare on SOF/PR C-130 variants, HH-60s, EC-130 Commando Solo, EC-130 Compass Call and CV-22 aircraft
- Removes, installs, checks and repairs avionics systems and line replaceable units (LRU)
- Inspects, evaluates, plans, organizes and directs aircraft maintenance activities
Requirements:
- HS diploma or GED. Completion of high school courses in physics, computers and mathematics is desirable
- Minimum ASVAB score of 70 on Electrical
- No record of acrophobia (fear of heights)
- Normal color vision
- Eligibility for Secret security clearance
Training:
- Candidates without prior military experience are required to attend 8.5 weeks of Basic Military Training (BMT) at JB San Antonio-Lackland, TX; followed by Technical Training
